Respecting Our Environment
Over this term we have had a major focus in our values on showing respect. Respect to Self, Respect to Others and Respect for our Environment. Over the past 2 weeks we have been focused on how we can show respect for our environment. Mrs O challenged us to produce a short video clip demonstrating how we can show respect for ours. We accepted the challenge and together with M2 we produced this blockbuster production! We're so impressed with how it turned out!
We use an app called Clips to film it - super easy - give it a try.

The Cay Movie Trailers
Check out our budding movie makers with their first attempt at making movie trailers based around the novel we were reading "The Cay" by Theodore Taylor.
We loved this experience and are keen to make more!

Raft Making - The Cay
As part of our novel study on The Cay by Theodore Taylor we decided to build rafts as Phillip and Timothy had been adrift at sea on the Caribbean. For us to be successful at this activity we sat together and co-constructed a success criteria together so that we were all working towards the same goals. Wow - what a hugely fantastic morning - so much planning, discussion, risk taking and re modelling! And the best part of it was that they all floated! Super exciting! Well done M1 Literacy - you were amazing!!!

Ice Cream Making
A huge thanks to school kit for the opportunity to participate in the ice cream kit! We had so much fun creating our breakfast ice creams! There were lots of ‘interesting’ flavours but some of our favourites were maple syrup and bacon, honey and oats and pineapple! I am sure there will be lots of holiday ice cream creating going on!

NZ Get Writing
This morning we unpacked our NZ get writing box with Mrs Clark. We were very excited to see what it contained!! We have found out that we are writing to Room 23 at Papatoetoe South School. We have done a little bot of research and discovered that they are very similar to us in some way i.e they have a Kapa Haka and their uniform looks a bit like ours. But they are different to us too, they don't have Year 7 and 8's at their school. We can't wait to receive their postcards and we are excited to get going with ours.
Arthurs Pass Camp 2018
At the beginning of this week Mamaku 1 spent a fantastic 3 days in the Alpine environment of Arthurs Pass. We swum in Lake Brunner, walked the Devils Punchbowl Track, experienced river crossing, walked the Arthurs Pass walkway, completed a Search and Rescue mission to find 'Brian', walked the sensory trail through the forest, orientated out way through the village to complete a challenge. We had a fantastic time and have made some fantastic memories to share with you!
